In Lampertswalde, there is a former manor house dating from the late 14th century, with a well-maintained park, rare botanical features, a restored gardener’s house, and a castle café. The church in Olganitz is a recently renovated hall church that combines Romanesque, Baroque, Neoclassical, and historicist elements. Features described as noteworthy include a baptismal font and carved figures.

History

Cavertitz was first mentioned in historical records in 1240. The church in Schirmenitz was built in the 12th century. During the Battle of Mühlberg in 1547, the Schirmenitz parish house provided accommodation for Emperor Charles V and his brother Ferdinand.

Getting There

From Leipzig Central Station, visitors can take the RE50 to Oschatz and then change to bus 802 to Schöna near Cavertitz.
