Stockum-Püschen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Stockum-Püschen is located on the southern slope of the Götzenberg nature monument. From there, views extend across the surrounding valleys and hills. In the nearby Stöffel basalt quarrying area, distinctive rock faces and exposed geological formations can be seen.

Hiking

Around the Götzenberg and Stöffel, there are 10 Gemaahnsweeschelscher circular hiking trails. They range from easy 5 km hikes to difficult 30 km hikes. The network comprises a total of approximately 136 km of circular trails, with around 2,250 metres of ascent and descent.

Excursions

The themed excursion leads to the observation tower in Stöffelpark; from there, the view extends towards Stöffelpark and the basalt quarrying areas. The Stockum–Götzenberg–Bellingen excursion is a 9.8 km-long route covering local history, geology, fauna and flora from the Tertiary period through Celtic and medieval times, the Thirty Years’ War and up to the present day. It includes the presumed site of a Celtic ring wall on the Götzenberg and Stone Age burial mounds.

The Stöffelmaus Tour is associated with a significant fossil deposit containing the fossil known as the “Stöffelmaus”. It leads around Stockum-Püschen and onwards to Stöffel Basalt Park.

Orientation

The Gemaahnsweeschelscher hikes start at the village community centre on Zum Stöffel road; parking is available there. GPX files and Komoot links are provided for loading onto smartphones or navigation devices. The starting point can be reached from Rotenhain railway station via an approximately 1 km-long footpath. The trails are not marked with signs, symbols or information boards.
