Bodenheim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Bodenheim can continue their accommodation search afterwards. A 1.6 km historical circular route takes in the Historic Town Hall, built in 1608, an elaborately carved Renaissance half-timbered building with a carved bay window, decorative Renaissance motifs and interior stucco in the council chamber. A longer 4.3 km circular route leads through historic farm complexes, Renaissance half-timbered buildings and ecclesiastical buildings and includes the courtyard of the former Metternich estate.

Culture

The historic townscape includes Breidenbacher Hof with the two-storey Dolleskeller, which preserves columns and cross vaults. Knebelscher Hof is described as Bodenheim's oldest building and was built as an estate farm in 1606. The Bodenheim Local History Museum is located in an ancillary building of the manor house built in 1774 by Baron von Breidenbach-Büresheim. It presents the history of the town on a permanent basis and prepares changing special exhibitions each year. The collection includes prehistoric and medieval ceramics, historical rural objects and fragments of Roman roof tiles.

A tourist route leads through the historic town centre. It points to the RhineTerraces Trail, historic town walks, the Wine Educational Trail and cycle paths.

Wine

The Bodenheim Wine Educational Trail is a 2.7 kilometre circular route through the vineyards. Signs about grape varieties and information boards explain viticulture and the history of Bodenheim. The route offers views over Bodenheim and the Rhine-Main region. Fourteen wines are presented at the locations where they are grown; tastings are available on site during the wine-tasting event.

Stiftswingert is a vineyard enclosed by sturdy walls and corner towers. The Wine Educational Trail begins and ends at Stiftswingert and at the St. Alban statue; a statue of Saint Alban stands at the end of the route near Stiftswingert.

Cycle Paths

The Rhine Cycle Route and the Amiche Cycle Route run directly past Bodenheim. The Amiche Cycle Route is rated as easy and has several short climbs. From Bodenheim, it follows the former Amiche and Valentinchen railway lines through the foothills of the Rheinhessen hills. Bicycles, mountain bikes and pedelecs can be rented directly at Bodenheim railway station.

Hiking Trails

The RhineTerraces Trail is signposted according to Rhineland-Palatinate standards; route information boards are available at the starting points and railway stations. Twelve railway stations with regular connections provide access to the trail, making it possible to hike stages from point to point by train.
