Engelstadt’s old village centre lies in the hilly landscape of Rheinhessen. The Engelstadt village fountain on Hauptstraße bears the year 1865; this is considered the date of its renovation, while the fountain itself is considered older. Engelstadt’s Protestant parish church is regarded as a medieval landmark. It was first mentioned in 1228 and is dedicated to Saint Mauritius; its Romanesque west tower has a lintel decorated with relief motifs above the south portal.

In the wider regional surroundings of Rheinhessen, tourism includes walks through vineyards and cycling along the Selz valley, as well as regional wine, gastronomy and culinary experiences. The Fruit Route is a cycling tour from Nieder-Hilbersheim to Engelstadt, gaining 150 metres in altitude and running along farm tracks and through village streets. Just beyond Engelstadt, the Fruit Route features a vineyard swing with a small observation tower; it serves as a resting place before the descent into the Selz valley. From the plateau above Engelstadt, the Fruit Route offers wide-ranging views.
