Landscape

Walsheim is a place from which to explore the surrounding area. The Hainbach is a stream around 33 kilometers long that rises on the Roßberg in the Palatinate Forest and flows through Walsheim. A walk through Walsheim is possible at any time; there are also hiking and cycling trails.

The Walsheim Hut is located about 12 kilometers west of Walsheim and can be reached via signposted hiking trails from Albersweiler and Eußerthal. It is described as a rustic hiking hut built in the log-cabin style, offering inexpensive meals. The municipality states that the Walsheim Hut will remain closed throughout 2026 due to renovation work.

Culture and History

Walsheim Town Hall is located in a former rectory with a courtyard and barn, built in 1793 as a Baroque building with a half-hipped roof. The former rectory complex was renovated and inaugurated as Walsheim Town Hall in September 2007. The complex also includes a library and a youth room; Walsheim Town Hall is a protected historic building.

Walsheim's Protestant church was built between 1810 and 1812 on the site of a church destroyed in 1794. Its late Gothic bell tower probably dates from 1723. The organ by Carl Wagner, built in 1844, is described as one of the historically most valuable instruments of the 19th century in the Palatinate. The adjacent war memorial and the historic graves are also designated cultural monuments.

A Roman gravestone found on the Silberberg was later reused in a Frankish slab grave. The gravestone depicts a funerary banquet. Barbatus Silvester is described as someone who died on a Roman estate near present-day Walsheim.

Wine

Walsheim is a wine-growing municipality that visitors can come to for a glass of wine. The Karl Pfaffmann vinotheque in Walsheim welcomes visitors for wine tastings and wine consultations. The Karl Pfaffmann winery is located in Walsheim and is associated with the Southern Wine Route wine region. The 1616 Pfaffmann Heinz Stiftung winery is described as a Bioland-certified winery; its wine production has been organic and vegan since 2016.

Leisure

The Walsheim playground has a slide, a seesaw, a climbing frame, and swings; next to it is a boules court. Walsheim's tractor pulling is a midsummer competition in which tractors in various classes pull trailers over a muddy course.
