Culture

St. Gallus Parish Church is a Neo-Gothic hall church dating from 1861. Parts of the Baroque churchyard wall have been preserved. The church interior features ceiling paintings and a carved wooden high altar; Birkenhördt is also home to a wooden sculpture of Saint Anne Selbdritt dating from around 1500.

Other small monuments include a red sandstone cross dating from around 1900 near Hauptstraße 2 and a wayside chapel near Hauptstraße 2. The chapel is a Baroque-style building with a hipped roof and has an entrance hall dating from around 1910. A relief of a Madonna of Mercy is located on the wayside shrine near Hauptstraße 49. The Baroque half-timbered house at Hauptstraße 33 bears the years 1703 and 1931 and was renovated in 1931.

Activities

The Peace Chapel offers views over Birkenhördt and the surrounding mountains in the direction of the Stäffelsberg Tower. In addition to the local hiking trails and cycle paths, there are tennis courts in a wooded setting.

Bad Bergzabern is designated as the nearest railway station to Birkenhördt. Bus routes connect Bad Bergzabern with Annweiler or Dahn.
