The traditional wine festival has been celebrated in Braubach since 1925. In the Rhine gardens, it includes wine fountains and wine from the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Region.
Philippsburg Palace was built from 1568 to 1571 as a widow’s residence for Anna Elisabeth. In the freely accessible courtyard of Philippsburg, the Renaissance garden was reconstructed based on plans from 1607. It comprises six square beds and two fountains and is part of the World Heritage Gardens Route in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
The Marksburg is the only hilltop castle on the Middle Rhine that has never been destroyed. It was built from around 1231 to protect nearby silver mines. Guided tours begin with the climb up the rocky Riders’ Stairway; the visitor tour also includes a medieval herb and medicinal plant garden.
The churches also preserve traces of history: the north wall of St Barbara’s Church was incorporated into Braubach’s town wall in 1384/85. St Martin’s Chapel is Braubach’s oldest church; it was first mentioned around the year 1000 and dedicated to Saint Martin in 1242.
The castle educational trail uses 14 themed panels that connect Philippsburg Palace, Braubach’s historic old town and the Marksburg. Walking the route of the panels takes around 45 minutes.

Braubach is associated with the cultural landscape of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. It is characterised by castles, historic towns, vineyards and a dramatic river valley. UNESCO describes the World Heritage Site as extending over 65 kilometres.
