Sohrschied: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Southeast of Sohrschied lies a juniper heath with boundary stones dating from 1787.

Nature

Several elevations and scenic landmarks are located around Sohrschied: the Womrather Höhe, the Koppensteiner Höhe, the Gemündener Höhe and the Mörschieder Burr.

History and Culture

Early Roman burial mounds southwest of Sohrschied, as well as Roman wall remains in the fields Im Haag, Auf Weiler and Höll, document early settlement activity. An Iron Age grain millstone was found near the Sohrbach bridge west of County Road 3.

The village bakehouse is a focal point for local festivals and still has a fully functional old baking oven.

The ruins of Altburg and Schmitburg, Wartenstein Castle and the ruins of Koppenstein are also located around Sohrschied.
