Culture

Gemünden Castle originated from a 12th-century castle, was destroyed in 1689 and rebuilt as a palace from 1706 onward. Its rooms house a library, a family archive and an art collection.

A 3.5-kilometer geological Hunsrück educational trail begins on the southern outskirts of town. It provides information about Hunsrück slate and fossils from the Kaisergrube; there is also a mineral exhibit at the starting point.

A five-kilometer forest educational trail follows a circular route and features more than 40 information boards on forest communities and ecological relationships. It begins on Peter-Meyer-Straße.
