Budenbach combines a rural Hunsrück setting with a remarkable testament to its Roman past. The Roman burial mound complex comprises four mounds visible along a stretch of approximately 170 meters. Excavation evidence and grave goods, including a coin from the time of Trajan and fine Roman pottery, date the burial to the first half of the 2nd century. Budenbach is also a stop on the 30-kilometer Römer–Ritter–Klosterfrauen cycling loop, which connects nearby villages with Simmern and includes the Roman burial mound complex. Budenbach lies in a hollow in the Klingelbach Valley in the Hunsrück, between the Rhine, Moselle, and Nahe rivers, near the future Soonwald Nature Park. Budenbach is about ten minutes from the A61 motorway and from Simmern. The Middle Rhine and the Moselle are approximately 20 to 30 minutes away.
