Hausen (Wied) is located on the Wied River in the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park, southwest of Waldbreitbach. The town has a rural character and is a state-recognized climatic health resort.

Culture and History

The nearby Kreuzkapelle is located in the municipality of Waldbreitbach, but was regarded as being on the outskirts of Hausen. It was built in 1694 and became a pilgrimage site in the 18th century. The Kreuzkapelle is also associated with the founders of the Waldbreitbach Franciscan order and with religious services.

Hausen (Wied) and its listed districts contain cultural monuments recorded in the official register of monuments, including a half-timbered house from the 18th century in Bremscheid.

Surroundings

The surrounding area of Hausen (Wied) is home to Arenfels Castle, Rheineck Castle, Heddesdorf Fort and the Neuwied Roentgen Museum (district museum).
