Aschbach: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Aschbach lies north of the Königsberg in the North Palatinate Uplands. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Aschbach can then continue searching for accommodation. The village has a 3.6 km forest educational and adventure trail with ten play and adventure stations. Nature and Trails

The 62.2 km Veldenz Trail runs through Aschbach between Nerzweiler and Reckweilerhof as part of a regional hiking route. The Veldenz Trail is designated as a “Leading Quality Trail – Best of Europe.” Above Aschbach, the Palatinate Ridge Trail crosses the Veldenz Trail.

The route from Aschbach to the Königsberg summit is approximately 5.7 km long. There is a summit register at the Königsberg summit on the summit route. The route can be followed from the village center via Pitzerstraße, the car park at the waterworks, and the edge of the forest. Free parking is listed at the waterworks and at the cemetery in Aschbach. Access to Aschbach is described via bus 274 from Wolfstein railway station.

History and Villagescape

A barn at Pitzerstraße 1 in Aschbach is listed as a half-timbered building with some solid construction and may date from the 17th century. Four burial mounds containing artifacts were discovered in Aschbach, indicating Bronze Age settlement. In addition, the foundations of a six-room Roman bath were discovered.

A Quereinhaus combines a farm section with a two-story residential section. The former forge belonging to the Quereinhaus retains its original fittings. A crosswise house in the village center of Aschbach was probably built in 1798. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, residents of Aschbach traveled around as wandering musicians.
