Altrich: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Altrich lies between the Eifel and the Moselle. In the village center, the Altrich circular hiking trail (A1) starts at the bus stop on Andreasstraße and can be walked in either direction. The route passes wayside crosses before reaching Altrich’s district of Büscheid. Along the route stands the Dicke Eiche, a natural monument and oak tree at least 300 years old, which has been protected since 1938.

Nature and Trails

Altrich is located in the immediate vicinity of the long-distance Lieserpfad hiking trail. The connection between the village, wayside crosses, Büscheid and the protected oak is directly reflected in the route descriptions.

Cycling Trails

The Wallfahrtschleife cycling route takes cyclists through the Wittlich Basin around Altrich. The Maare-Moselle Cycle Route also runs near Altrich along a former railway line from Daun to Lieser on the Moselle.

Culture and History

St. Andrew’s Parish Church is a five-bay Gothic Revival hall church dating from 1873; a stone altar stands on its exterior. The branch church of St. Quirinus in Büscheid is a three-bay Gothic Revival hall church from the late 19th century.

Gut Kirchhof was formerly an Electoral estate. A wayside shrine depicting the Crucifixion at Gut Kirchhof is dated 1714. A chapel near Hof Haardt is a plastered building that probably dates from 1720.

Local Insights

At Biohof Wahsner, regional products are sold directly by the producer, including organic beef, honey, apple juice and seasonal vegetables. The Schemehl ceramics workshop offers an opportunity to experience the region authentically.
