The historic Bispinghof farm, surrounded by moats, is known as the „cradle of Nordwalde“. Nordwalde is located in the Münsterland region, approximately 12 km southeast of Steinfurt and 20 km northwest of Münster. The town also has a stop on the RB64 railway line between Münster and Enschede.

Culture and History

Cultural events are regularly held at Bispinghof. Nordwalde’s local history museum presents the history of the town. St. Dionysius Church houses a Baroque organ that has been protected as a historic monument since 2000. A wayside shrine created by sculptor Dirk Kellermann dates from 1728.

Getting Around

The local heritage association offers seven selected routes on which Nordwalde and its surrounding farming communities can be explored on foot or by bicycle. The Kirchpättchen circular route passes water, meadows, and fields and goes through the forest. It begins at Bispinghof and leads through Suttorf, Westerode, and Kirchbauerschaft. The circular route is used by walkers and cyclists, is 15 km long, and is classified as easy. Nordwalde is located at junctions 14 and 15 of the Münsterland cycling network.
