Ãœbach-Palenberg: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Wurmtal recreation area is a green leisure oasis between Palenberg and Marienberg. Übach-Palenberg is part of the Heinsberg region, in Germany’s westernmost area on the southern Lower Rhine. History and Culture

The St. Peter’s Chapel, also known as the Karlskapelle, is described as one of the significant early churches in the Rhineland. It is a surviving relic from the area’s early Christian period.

The water tower is a highly visible landmark of Übach-Palenberg and is approximately 49 metres high. In 1989, it was entered in the city’s register of listed monuments. From 1912 to 1962, the water tower supplied the Carolus Magnus mine with water. It was professionally restored and painted blue.

The Carolus Magnus Centrum is located in the former administration building of the Carolus Magnus mine and serves as a venue for public and cultural events. The Bauhaus-style building is a listed monument and has preserved its original structure.

Zweibrüggen Castle was built in 1788 in the Classicist style. The old Zweibrüggen Mill has an impressive water wheel and a beautiful garden. The foundations of a Roman bath, discovered in 1988, are also located in the Wurmtal recreation area.

Paths and Traces

The Via Belgica is a cycling and hiking route that follows historic Roman traces. Information panels along the Via Belgica point out buildings, ruins and old signposts.
