The approximately one-hour Medieval Route combines exploration with a questionnaire and is intended for families and children aged 10 and over. The approximately one-and-a-half-hour Sculpture Trail, which also includes a questionnaire, is likewise intended for families and children aged 10 and over. The “Mercator Special” turns this into an approximately one-and-a-half-hour GPS treasure hunt. It is intended for people aged 10 and over and for groups. The answers can be found on information boards. The “Mill Rally” offers a different kind of shared discovery: it leads from one mill to another in the Rodebach valley, takes one to two hours, and is intended for families. Its questions focus on the route, reading, and observation. The activities therefore differ not only in their themes, but also in the tasks that take centre stage along the way.
Town history and tracing the past
Gangelt’s surviving buildings also tell the story of the fortified town. Bruch Gate is one of three surviving town gates. The castle tower is another surviving part of the former town fortifications; it was first mentioned in 1364 as part of a territorial lord’s castle. The “In Search of Traces” route focuses on a different aspect of history.
