Manor House, Park and Village Church

Leizen Manor House was built in 1898 in the Gründerzeit style, with an almost square floor plan. Another exterior staircase leads from the building into the park, with its mature trees. Schloss Leizen is a Mecklenburg manor house from the late 19th century that was converted into a children's holiday hotel. Heritage conservation experts were closely involved in the conversion. The history of the house can therefore be understood both through its earlier form as a manor house and through the heritage-sensitive conversion.

Minzow is also worth a closer look for its architectural history. The village church was built to plans by architect Theodor Krüger between 1860 and 1862 in the neo-Gothic style, and completed in 1862. It was the first sacred building constructed in accordance with the Eisenach Regulation. The Eisenach Church Conference adopted this set of rules for Protestant church construction from 30 May to 5 June 1861. Inside the church, a rib vault spans the space; the altar, carved wooden pulpit, baptismal font stand, box pews and seating date from the time of construction. The surviving furnishings and neo-Gothic architecture each offer their own perspective on the building's history.

Leizen's attractions also include two megalithic tombs towards Woldzegarten. Anyone interested in different forms of architectural and cultural history can include them in their exploration of the area, alongside the manor house and village church.

Bathing Area at Tangahnsee

Tangahnsee borders Woldzegarten, a district of the municipality of Leizen. The lake's bathing area is a bathing site reported to the European Union; the municipality of Leizen is responsible for or operates the bathing water. The lakeshore includes a 100-metre-long beach or shore section. Swimming, walking and relaxing are the obvious ways to enjoy Tangahnsee. This offers a clear distinction when choosing the focus of your holiday: alongside the historic buildings, a stay by the water in Woldzegarten is another option within the municipality.

On Foot, by Bike and on the Road

A chestnut avenue, also known as the “Black Path”, leads from the B198 towards Leizen Manor House and a motte. The motte was built in the Middle Ages as a defensive structure to protect against raids. The path thus connects an avenue with a destination whose purpose is rooted in the area's history.

For cyclists, the “Middle Ages between Plau am See and Röbel/Müritz” tour passes through Leizen and then continues through the village to the castle.
