Boating activities at Hafendorf Müritz

Hafendorf Müritz, a modern marina with around 400 berths, is located in Rechlin-Nord. There you can rent motorboats without a license or prior experience. Canoes, rowing boats, and pedal boats are also available. This gives you a choice of different ways to go boating, from motorboats to smaller boats powered by muscle. If you would like to spend most of your holiday enjoying activities on the water, this offers a clear focus for planning your trip.

Cycling, hiking, and nature in Boek

Rechlin has well-developed cycling and hiking trails. So, alongside boating activities, you can also plan your holiday around being active and exploring on foot or by bike. No specific route or connection to individual destinations is specified; the trails offer a focus of their own for anyone who wants to experience Rechlin actively on land.

The Rechlin district of Boek is the southern gateway to Müritz National Park. For nature enthusiasts, this location is a point to consider when choosing holiday activities. Boek is also home to the Bolter Schleuse fishing and angling farm. From its terrace, visitors can watch typical fish in an observation pond and lure them to the surface with a little food. Those who would rather fish themselves can fish in several ponds covering an area of more than 10 hectares. Watching fish in the observation pond and fishing in the ponds are two different ways to explore the subject of fish and nature.

Aviation history at the museum

The Rechlin Aviation Technology Museum is housed in the historic building complex of the Luftwaffe testing facility of the Third Reich, Northern Group. The exhibition traces Rechlin’s aviation history from the beginnings of flight in 1918. The periods covered include the Flieger-Versuchs- und Lehranstalt on Lake Müritz, the RDLI testing facility, and, from 1934, the Luftwaffe testing facility.

Other exhibitions focus on the site’s post-war history and its use by the NVA until 1990 and by the Red Army until 1993. The history of the Rechlin shipyard and the town up to the present day are also among the museum’s themes. A special exhibit is the best-preserved boat from a series of which only four examples remain. Museum tours are available by arrangement. For a visit focused on history, the exhibition offers several chapters, from early aviation to the site’s later use and the history of the town.

Memorial site and townscape

The memorial to the Ravensbrück concentration camp subcamp in Retzow/Rechlin has undergone extensive renovation. The outlines of five barracks were uncovered and a new path was created so that people with disabilities and older people can visit the memorial. The exposed outlines make the barracks’ locations a visible part of the memorial grounds. St. John’s Church in Boek is another historic destination; the church building is a listed monument.

Rechlin’s town center includes a tourist information office and a market square. The waterfront promenade with its pier and restaurants, as well as the boat moorings, have also been redesigned. These features complement themed excursions with central locations and public spaces in Rechlin.

Choose the right focus when searching for a holiday apartment

When looking for a holiday apartment in Rechlin, you can first decide based on the experiences you want to shape your trip: water activities at Hafendorf Müritz in Rechlin-Nord, aviation history at the museum, cycling and hiking trails, or nature and angling in Boek. The different locations and themes can help you organize your holiday plans without combining all the activities into a single excursion itinerary.
