Röbel/Müritz lies on the water, beside an inlet of the Müritz. A long lakeside promenade, landing stages for passenger boats, a waterway rest area and a sailing and town harbour provide several tangible points of connection to the water in the townscape. On the landward side, Röbel/Müritz is set amid gently rolling countryside. The town thus offers both the lakeside landscape and historic buildings and exhibitions as different areas of interest for visitors.

The Shore and the Townscape
If you want to centre your stay around the water, you can explore the promenade and harbour facilities. The landing stages for passenger boats are part of the lakeside scenery, as are the waterway rest area and the sailing and town harbour. The gently rolling countryside inland offers a different landscape accent. When looking for a holiday apartment in Röbel/Müritz, it is worth first considering whether you would like to focus your stay mainly on the water, the town’s history or a mixture of both.
A distinctive feature of the townscape is the restored Dutch windmill. It stands on Burgberg in the centre of Röbel/Müritz and offers a lovely view over the town. After a climb, the tower of St Mary’s Church also provides an unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside. There are therefore two different ways to take in Röbel/Müritz from above: the view over the town from the mill and the view over the countryside from the church tower.
Churches and Town History
St Mary’s Church is one of the oldest brick buildings in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It stands on the former temple hill of the Wendish Müritz people and features a transitional Romanesque-Gothic style. Its nave, which initially had two bays, was first extended in the 14th century. The Early Gothic St Nicholas’ Church adds to this historic picture. Construction probably began around 1250; in its intact form, it is unique in northern Germany today. From 5 May to 30 September, it is open for visits daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Short-notice changes are possible.
At the Haus des Gastes, the “Heimatstuben” local history museum provides free information about Röbel/Müritz. Its topics range from traditional crafts and urban development to legal disputes and witch trials. The Haus des Gastes also hosts year-round changing exhibitions featuring regional art and artists. The former synagogue is one of the few preserved half-timbered synagogues in Mecklenburg and houses an exhibition on Mecklenburg’s Jewish history. These sites focus on different aspects of the town’s and region’s history.
Water and Relaxation
The MüritzTherme offers 3,000 m² of daily relaxation by, in and with the water. Its sauna area includes a 95-degree Finnish outdoor sauna, an 85-degree sauna, a 75-degree salt sauna and a 55-degree sanarium. The facilities are complemented by an infrared cabin, two relaxation rooms and a bar of its own.
