The BUK Lighthouse as a Landmark

More than 100 years old, the BUK Lighthouse is considered a landmark of the municipality of Bastorf. At around 20.8 metres tall, it is also known as Germany’s highest lighthouse by topographical elevation. In the municipality, the village of Kägsdorf gives residents and visitors direct access to the Baltic Sea beach. Manor Farm, Garden and Regional Produce

The restored Bastorf manor farm now operates as an Ostseeland hotel and holiday farm. The complex includes two thatched barns, a main house and four outbuildings. The estate’s orchard and herb garden is another discovery: children and adults can explore it, and there is also a children’s ranch. The different parts of the manor farm bring together historic buildings and modern uses and experiences.

The Mecklenburg oil mill is also located on the manor farm. It produces cold-pressed sunflower, linseed and rapeseed oils from organic seeds, which are available to take away directly. The BonBon shop offers more than 40 varieties of fruit sweets, including sugar-free varieties, as well as fruit gums and liquorice. The selection ranges from regionally produced oils to a wide variety of confectionery.

The Hof-Markt is another place to find regional products. It is housed in a restored, thatched three-aisled hall house dating from 1820. Regional products and goods made on site are sold there. The Hof-Markt’s fruit kitchen regularly makes jams and fruit spreads from regional fruit. The historic hall house and the preparation of fruit give the market a distinctive connection to regional architecture and food culture.
