The Visbek Bridegroom and the Heidenopfertisch are located near Engelmannsbäke in the municipality of Visbek. Both are considered the largest megalithic tombs in northern Germany. The Visbek Bridegroom is just over 100 metres long and the largest barrow in Lower Saxony—an impressive scale that brings home the dimensions of this megalithic heritage.

Church and Monument in the Town Centre
Today’s neo-Gothic St. Vitus Church in the centre of Visbek was built from 1872 to 1876 and is the seventh church to stand on this site. On the north side of the parish church, at Klosterplatz, stands the Abbot Gerbert Castus monument: a bronze sculpture dating from 1984. The church and monument add a distinctive note alongside the archaeological sites around Engelmannsbäke.
