Negenborn lies in a valley basin at the entrance to the Hooptal valley. The village is surrounded by the Burgberg, Vogler and the Odfeld plateau. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Negenborn can then continue their search for accommodation.
The L 580 runs northwest from Negenborn through the Forstbachtal valley towards neighbouring Golmbach. The Negenborn bypass on the B 64 was opened to traffic on 14 April 2023. It was planned with the aim of reducing through traffic on the former main road by 85 percent.
Above the village is the Negenborn barbecue area, about 800 metres from the main road. The site is surrounded by a small wooded area and is described as being in a quiet location. The areas around the barbecue site are described as suitable for hiking and playing together.
The barbecue area includes a shelter with space for around 30 people, an open fire pit with seating and a larger barbecue.
Day 2 of the 22-kilometre Raabe Hiking Trail passes through Negenborn on its route from Stadtoldendorf to Holzminden. The Raabe Hiking Trail reaches the village through the Hooptal valley along the Forstbach. After three kilometres, the Weserbergland Hiking Trail branches off from the route; after another 200 metres, it reaches Amelungsborn Abbey.
Amelungsborn Abbey is a Romanesque three-aisled basilica. The foundation of the abbey dates back to 1129; it was extended in the Gothic style around 1350. It is described as the second-oldest Cistercian foundation in Lower Saxony.
Visitors can arrange a tour of the abbey with the sacristan based there. A late medieval pilgrimage associated with a Eucharistic miracle is also documented at a chapel on the outskirts of Negenborn.
