Near Leiferde in the Upper Aller Lowlands lies the Viehmoor nature reserve. It covers approximately 320 hectares and is a lowland moor landscape with still waters, reed zones, wet meadows, heathland, dunes and woodland. The Viehmoor is an important resting and breeding area for rare, protected bird species.
