Nature and Culture

Hiking and Cycling
Herzhausen is the starting point for 8 km and 12 km circular hikes on the Urwaldsteig trail via the Hoch Stein viewpoint. There is also a 19 km Urwaldsteig loop leading through the National Park Centre, to Hagenstein, through the national park and to the Asel-Süd ferry connection.
The Edersee Circular Route, the Eder Cycle Route, the Hessian long-distance trails R5 and R6, the Ruhr-Eder GeoRadroute and the Orange Cycle Route pass directly through Herzhausen. The ER 2 leads from Herzhausen towards the forests of the national park.
Water
At Lake Edersee near Herzhausen, fishing is possible from the shore and from a boat. Local facilities also offer rowing boats, paddle boats and pedal boats for hire.
