Rengershausen combines the Nuhne, wooded hills and special experiences for active and curious days on holiday. A circular forest trail with play stations, an outdoor swimming pool, signposted Nordic walking routes and a remarkable local history give you several ways to plan your stay. When choosing your holiday apartment or holiday home, you can therefore already consider whether nature experiences, exercise, water or historical discoveries should be the focus.

Forest Trail, Play Stations and Outdoor Swimming Pool

The Wichtel-Wander-Weg is a circular forest trail that begins and ends at the Rengershäuser Hagen by the water reservoir built in 1931. Wooden carvings of birds and animals line the trail. At the Distelbach stream, “Wichtelhausen” offers a place to play and relax, build small wooden shelters from branches and wade in the water. Those travelling with children will find specific opportunities here to make an outing in the forest playful, without having to commit to a single pace for the whole day.

The Rengershausen outdoor swimming pool offers another way to enjoy varied days on holiday. It has a 300 m² swimming pool with a separate non-swimmer area. This allows you to add a water experience to a day outdoors. Rengershausen also offers three signposted Nordic walking routes. Depending on your personal interests, you can therefore plan your day with a circular forest trail, time at the outdoor swimming pool or a sporting route.

Riverside Location and Paths through the Landscape

Rengershausen lies on the right bank of the Nuhne, directly on the border with North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochsauerland District). The district continues to meet the requirements for the designation “climatic spa”. Rengershausen is surrounded by gentle, wooded hills at an altitude of around 360 metres. This combination of a riverside location, forest and hilly terrain shapes the character of the village and is particularly appealing to travellers who enjoy spending their days outdoors.

The Nuhnehöhenweg begins and ends at the Haus des Gastes on Braunshäuser Straße in 35066 Frankenberg-Rengershausen. When choosing accommodation, you can therefore first consider whether you would like to include short activity destinations with children, outdoor exercise or a hike in your travel plans. Selecting the focus of your holiday helps you find the right base for your own daily rhythm.

Traces of Local History

Rengershausen also offers specific points of interest for visitors interested in history. The oldest church register of Rengershausen dates from 1568. During a New Year’s Eve service held in connection with the village’s 900th anniversary in 2007, a liturgical fragment from the 12th century was also presented. Those interested in history can thus look back from the church register dating from the 16th century to the liturgical fragment from the 12th century.

The Nuhne Bridge is also part of the village’s history: it was rebuilt at the historic site of an earlier crossing. Together with the church register and the liturgical fragment, it offers a cultural perspective on Rengershausen that can be easily combined with a stay in nature.
