For cyclists, the 240-kilometre R3 long-distance cycle route passes through Oestrich-Winkel. The Flötenweg offers a different route: running for about 10 kilometres, it follows a route parallel to the Rhine above the river, through the vineyards of all the town’s districts, as far as Schloss Johannisberg. You can hike and cycle in the Oestrich-Winkel forest; numerous circular trails start at the Kreistanne forest car park.
A section of the Rheingau Klostersteig also starts in Mittelheim at Oestrich-Winkel railway station. It leads through the vineyards to the rest pavilion in the Honigberg, where it meets the Rheinsteig.
