This connects the geological theme to a specific type of sand and the region’s limestone bedrock. Circular Hike or Multi-Stage Trail?
For a clearly defined route, consider the Monheimer Alb Hiking Trail No. 11: it is ten kilometres long and forms a circular route along the southern edge of the Franconian Jura. Unlike the seven kilometres given for the Spindeltal, this figure is the length of a specific hiking route. The two figures therefore answer different planning questions: the extent of a valley or the length of a circular route. The Hinterhaslacher Heide is one of the smaller landscape features along the Franconian Jura Panorama Trail, which has five stages. A brochure from 2022 states that the starting and finishing points for the five stages can be reached conveniently by public transport. Check current connections before you travel.
