History

The Roßstein Castle Ruins are a late medieval noble castle above the hamlet of Spieshof in the market area of Hohenburg.

The historic routes near Roßstein included the Eisenstraße between the Vils Valley and Amberg, as well as the Alte Straße from Hohenburg via Rieden towards Schwandorf.

The Roßstein Castle Ruins stand on a rocky outcrop approximately 50 meters above the Taubenbach Valley.
