A prominent trace of local history is the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Bartholomew. Heinrich-Gerhard Freiherr von Lüschwitz built it in 1617/18 in what was then the garden of Glashütten Castle. The church festival is also connected with the history of the church: it has been held on St. Bartholomew’s Day ever since the church was built. Its construction and the tradition surrounding it offer two specific ways to explore local history: through the origins of the church and through the custom associated with it.

Another historic hiking route in the Glashütten area is the Via Imperialis, which runs between Plankenfels and Muthmannsreuth. Its opening was marked in May 2006 with a symbolic ceremony at the Zoggenbrunnen near Glashütten. The fountain is therefore associated with this historic opening ceremony. The Via Imperialis should not be confused with the Glashütten Circular Trail.
