On foot: hiking trail and town walk
The Ru05 Runding West circular trail starts at Runding village square and passes through Eyberg, Göttling, Schietanger and Wohlwiesen. It then returns to Runding and the village square via Schlossberg. The route is described as an easy hike. Since trail conditions can change, it is advisable to check them before setting out.
The Runding Walk – Short Loop offers a different perspective. It leads through Runding to seven historic and noteworthy places. Along the way, you will come across a stone column with a cross and a carved eye, the Böhmerwald Cross, a late Baroque granite sculpture of Saint Nepomuk, and a Marian column dating from the 18th or 19th century. The Marian column was originally completely gilded.
In the town center, the walk heads towards Niederrunding and passes a church built in 1973. Inside are a modern organ from the workshop of master organ builder Fleugel and statues of saints by painter and sculptor Paul Hager. The late Baroque sculpture, Marian column and 1973 church bring different periods of architecture and art into the walk.
Cabaret and other places to visit
The history of the Liederbühne Robinson also connects Runding with another place: it opened in Munich in 1976 and moved to Runding-Vierau in 1989. It is considered a launchpad for cabaret performers, musicians and variety artists, as well as a birthplace of cabaret. For culture lovers, this is a distinct highlight alongside the walk’s historic sites.
