Stamsried is a state-recognized health resort in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park. The town lies 456 meters above the Regen Valley and is surrounded by densely forested hills.
Culture and History
Stamsried's notable heritage includes the marketplace with its Baroque Marian column, a parish church, a Baroque castle and the Romanesque church in Friedersried.
East of Stamsried lies Kürnberg Castle Ruin, described as one of the best-preserved castle ruins in the Upper Palatinate. An adventure trail in the Forest of the Senses leads around the ruin.
