The basilica in Ottobeuren was built as a Baroque church between 1737 and 1766. Its construction therefore spanned several decades. Trails and Activities Around Ottobeuren
The Ottobeuren Tourist Office offers numerous hiking and cycling tours in the surrounding area on komoot and outdooractive. If you are looking for a hike with a detailed description, consider the Glücksheimat Loop: it is an easy half-day hike with moderate climbs, following field and forest tracks as well as some narrow paths. The trail surfaces and climbs provide two specific points to consider when choosing a route.
Another route idea is the Planet Trail. It is six kilometres long and brings home the vast distances and empty spaces of the solar system. Along the Glücksplanet Trail, eleven Nagelfluh stone steles provide information about the structure of the solar system. The trail names and their descriptions can help you decide whether to plan around a particular route or your interest in information about the solar system.
The Kneipp Active Park in Ottobeuren features a classic Kneipp wading pool, an arm bath and a Kneipp lawn. This gives visitors three different Kneipp elements to enjoy. If you would also like to include a playful activity, the Adventure Golfpark Ottobeuren has 18 individually designed holes. Nine follow an Ottobeuren theme, while the other nine focus on the Allgäu.
