Bad Wörishofen: Kneipp, spa park and history
Accommodation in Bad Wörishofen
Bad Wörishofen offers a range of experiences for your stay: the spa park’s rose garden and barefoot path invite you to enjoy nature, while Kneipp facilities and historic sites shape the town. There is also a short local route on the Allgäu Hiking Trilogy, a self-guided town walk, and connections to Augsburg and the thermal spa. Which of these experiences interests you most may also influence your choice of holiday apartment.

Spa Park and Kneipp Facilities
The rose garden in the spa park has 6,000 rose bushes in 550 varieties. If you are interested in roses, you will find a distinctive feature of the town here. The 1,200-metre-long barefoot path in the spa park offers a different experience. This means the spa park focuses both on the variety of roses and on a path for walking barefoot.
Kneipp facilities are spread across other parts of the town: there are 24 public Kneipp facilities in the town area. Each one has a sign showing the water temperature and providing instructions. There are also three natural water-treading facilities in the Wörthbach stream. If these are of particular interest to you, you can take this focus into account when planning your stay.
Local Route and Historic Town Walk
For some exercise, there is the local route of the Allgäu Hiking Trilogy in Bad Wörishofen. It is 5.2 kilometres long. You can include it as a standalone walk in your day’s plans; its stated length gives you a useful guide. The historic town walk, by contrast, is designed for independent exploration. A town map and information boards at the stops are provided, and a QR code gives access to the Hearonymus app. If you would like to learn about the town’s history as well as go for a walk, these are two different ways to do so.
Sebastian Kneipp’s Legacy
Several historic sites offer insight into Kneipp’s work. The historic bathhouse was his first men’s bath, where he treated his patients. The historic Wandelhalle was originally 80 metres long and the venue for his daily lectures on health education. The two sites represent different aspects of his work: the men’s bath for treatment and the Wandelhalle for lectures.
The Sebastian Kneipp Museum is located in the Dominican convent in the town centre. It has been open since 27 June 1986 and houses around 7,200 museum objects, about 650 of which are on display. Another historic landmark is the tower of St. Justina. It is around 700 years old and is considered probably the oldest building in the town. Together, the museum, bathhouse, Wandelhalle and tower offer different points of interest for visitors interested in local history.
Getting Here and Choosing a Holiday Apartment
Bad Wörishofen has its own railway station in the heart of town, with direct connections to Augsburg. The thermal spa line connects Bad Wörishofen with the thermal spa. These are two different destinations to consider: the rail connection to Augsburg and the connection to the thermal spa. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, first consider which experiences you would like to shape your stay: the spa park and Kneipp facilities, walks and history, or a visit to the thermal spa. This lets you tailor your search to your interests without letting any one experience define the character of the whole town.
