Nesselwang offers a range of ways to spend your vacation days: cross-country skiing on groomed trails, a ride on a rail-guided coaster, a forest and root trail leading to a waterfall, or insights into local ski history. Archery and traditional local evenings are also among the possibilities. When choosing your holiday apartment, a practical question may help: would you prefer to focus on physical activity, shared discoveries or culture? These activities offer different experiences, without requiring you to limit your stay to just one type of vacation.

Cross-country skiing, mountain lifts and ski history

Nesselwang’s cross-country ski trail network consists of two loops and a floodlit trail. The Kappeler and Grüntensee loops are groomed for classic cross-country skiing and skating.

The Alpspitzbahn Nesselwang has two combined lifts, consisting of 8-person gondolas and a 4-person chairlift. They take passengers from the village to an altitude of 1,500 metres. This gives you a specific point of reference for the lift ride; in itself, it says nothing about other routes or activities at altitude. Together with the trails, Nesselwang therefore offers different ways to focus your trip on winter sports or a ride on the mountain lift.

Ski history is another topic to explore during your stay. An exhibition on Nesselwang’s more than 100-year ski history features historic skis, certificates, information panels, trophies and medals. It covers the beginnings of skiing, the achievements of Nesselwang’s skiers and the beginnings of ski tourism in the market town. The different types of exhibits bring various aspects of this history to life, from equipment and documents to sporting achievements. If you are interested in the development of skiing, you can plan a visit to this exhibition as a cultural counterpoint to active vacation days.

Forest trail, tobogganing and archery

The adventure trail to the Nesselwang waterfall follows a forest and root path to its destination. Children also enjoy this trail.

The AlpspitzCOASTER offers rail-guided tobogganing all year round, in summer and winter. The Allgäu Trendsport Centre in Nesselwang also has a 3D archery course with 12 targets. You can follow the course as part of a short hike. When planning your vacation, it makes a difference whether you would rather walk a trail, go tobogganing or try an activity with a bow.

Traditional local evenings and vacation options

During the summer months, Nesselwang’s traditional costume association and its various groups regularly host traditional local evenings. These events add a cultural element to the outdoor activities. If you also consider the kind of program you would like when choosing your accommodation, you can include these evenings as a possible focus for your summer stay. A holiday apartment in Nesselwang can serve as a base for your trip; the location or amenities that suit you depend on your own requirements.
