Nature

Illmensee is located around 17 kilometres north of Lake Constance and is known as the Three Lakes Municipality because of its lake surface area of 100 hectares.

The municipality includes Illmensee, Lake Ruschweiler and Lake Volzer; all three lakes were formed towards the end of the last ice age.

Within the municipality, the Höchsten rises to 833 metres above sea level; it is located around five kilometres south of Illmensee.

Illmensee has a swimming lake with a campsite right next to it. The swimming lake is therefore a specific point of reference for a stay by the water.

Illmensee has been a state-recognized health resort since 1987.
