Two Museums, Different Perspectives
The Inzigkofen Farming Museum is housed in the monastery’s former tithe barn. Its extensive collection includes tools and objects from the region’s predominantly farming life. One special feature is the working horse-powered sweep: visitors can try it out as a source of power. It is connected by belts to other equipment. The collection thus brings together agricultural objects and a power source visitors can experience firsthand.
The Inzigkofen Monastery Museum explores another aspect of local history. It displays objects relating to the history, artistic activities and religious devotion of the former Augustinian convent. Those interested in the monastery’s development will find a distinct perspective on its religious and artistic themes here; the Farming Museum, by contrast, focuses on the region’s predominantly farming life.
The Farming Museum is listed as open from May to October on the first and third Sunday of each month, from 2 to 5 p.m. Check the opening times before your visit.
The Princely Park and the Danube Valley
Princess Amalie Zephyrine of Sigmaringen had the Princely Park in Inzigkofen laid out in the style of an English landscape garden; Inzigkofen was her favourite place to stay. The Amalienfelsen is one of the park’s attractions. A swaying suspension bridge over the Danube links the southern and northern parts of the Princely Park.
The area’s geological history is also tangible here: the Danube and the rocky valley, carved out by the river over millions of years, are only a few minutes from Inzigkofen Monastery. The park brings together a historic design concept, striking attractions and a setting alongside the river landscape. If you enjoy combining cultural and nature-focused activities, you can take these different aspects into account when choosing places to visit.

The wider destination of Sigmaringen offers additional city and cultural experiences. Sigmaringen Castle developed from a medieval fortress into a princely residence and is considered a landmark of the city. Guided tours of the castle offer an insight into almost 1,000 years of Hohenzollern family history. The castle is also home to a private collection of around 3,000 weapons.
Sigmaringen also offers a different focus for hiking enthusiasts: the DonauFelsenLäufe are five premium hiking trails in the Sigmaringen area. They lead through the Danube Valley, the Schmeien Valley and the Lauchert Valley. In the city, the Zündapp Museum at the Zoller-Hof brewery displays more than 100 exhibits from the Zündapp motorcycle brand; it is located in the Marstall building at Fürst-Wilhelm-Straße 5–7. The Sigmaringen weekly market offers regional products such as baked goods, meat and sausages, fruit and vegetables, cheese, olive oil and honey.
