Culture

Landscape
Natural areas and agricultural land, including forests, orchards and fields, account for half of the municipal area of Vourles. At the western foot of Vourles lies the Garon, a small river that flows down from the Monts du Lyonnais and empties into the Rhône at Givors.
Regional Produce
The Marché de Vourles was founded as a wholesale market in 1956 on the initiative of producers and accepted exclusively fruit producers from the south of Lyon, the Monts du Lyonnais and the Loire. The Marché de Vourles offers fresh and processed products from farms in the region and is the only market in the Rhône department to bear the “Producteur de Pays” label.
L’Alambic in Vourles was founded in 1923 by the distillation cooperative. The renovated L’Alambic distils grape pomace as well as fruit such as plums, pears and apricots.
