The Clémence Lortet Arboretum in Sathonay-Camp comprises 127 tree and shrub species. History and Culture
In 1858, the establishment of a military camp near Lyon was proposed at Sathonay on the initiative of Marshal Castellane. From 1914 to 1918, the camp served as a training and supply centre for soldiers. The military camp became a new centre of activity for the village; as a result, more than 40 cafés, among other businesses, were established.
