Condrieu: Holiday Apartments and Houses
The Condrieu wine appellation is produced exclusively from the Viognier grape variety, whose area of origin is Condrieu. The Condrieu wine-growing region covers around 180 hectares of productive vineyards on steep slopes cultivated in chaillées. Every year on 1 May, the two appellations jointly hold the event “Vin et Rigotte de Condrieu en fête”.
When planning a stay in Condrieu, you may wish to find a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
The Visitation convent was built in 1664 by the de Villars family and was one of the first convents of the Visitandines. The chapel of the Visitation convent is used as a venue for exhibitions and concerts. The Tour Garon is the only surviving building of Condrieu’s 12th-century feudal castle. From the castle gate, there is a sweeping view of the Arbuel, Condrieu and the Rhône. The Maison du Gouverneur de la Gabelle is a Renaissance building whose original function was connected with the salt tax.
Landscape
Condrieu is located in the Parc Naturel du Pilat on the right bank of the Rhône. The Rhône and the Arbuel, Bassenon and Vernon rivers shape the landscapes and the typical districts of Condrieu, characterised by its former boatmen.
Cycling and Water
The former towpath in Condrieu is now part of the ViaRhôna cycle route. Wam Park Lyon Condrieu has a sandy beach with supervised swimming in July and August.
