Culture

The Eglise de Demptézieu was built in three phases and remodeled several times. The Eglise Inachevée is an unfinished church building that was begun on the initiative of Abbé Guillermard without authorization from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The Eglise de Saint-Savin contains a gilded wooden statue of the Virgin Mary. It was restored together with the church in November 1991 and probably dates from the late 17th or early 18th century. The construction of the Château des Comtes de Menon by the Counts of Menon at the beginning of the 18th century gave the center of Saint-Savin lasting significance.

On August 10, 1847, a project was drawn up for three washhouses in the hamlets of Saint-Savin, Demptézieu, and Chapèze. Widths of 2.95 meters and lengths of 19.50 meters for Saint-Savin, 13.40 meters for Demptézieu, and 23.20 meters for Chapèze were planned.

The weekly market in Saint-Savin takes place on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Place des Halles. Vendors include, among others, market gardeners, a cheesemonger, a butcher, a charcutier, and a vegetable producer.

Nature

Lac Clair and Lac Jublet are connected by a marshland area and designated as an Espace Naturel Sensible to protect their biodiversity. The lakes Clair, Jublet, Mort, and Gris, which are designated as Espaces Naturels Sensibles, are fed exclusively by groundwater and are home to rare flora and fauna adapted to periodically changing water conditions.

Walks around the lakes and ponds of Saint-Savin and through the marshlands are considered an opportunity to discover the municipality's natural heritage.

Geographical Setting

The Château de Césarges, a castle, is located in the immediate vicinity of Saint-Savin. The Mont d'Annoisin, a mountain, lies in the surrounding area of Saint-Savin.

The Abbaye Notre Dame de Bonnevaux, a historic site, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Saint-Savin. The Artothèque de Saint-Priest, a museum, is also in this wider regional area. The Ancienne chartreuse de La Sylve-Bénite, a monument, is located there as well.
