Lake and Water Sports

Plage de La Brune is a grassy lakeside beach with a sandbank and gently sloping access to the water. It has a children's playground, showers and sanitary facilities. In July and August, swimming here is supervised by lifeguards from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Plage du Plant is an unsupervised bathing area near the sailing club. During the season from May to September, Veyrier Club Nautique at Plage du Plant offers courses for all age groups, nautical equipment rental and tailor-made events.

The Veyrier-du-Lac Tennis Club is located in the immediate vicinity of Plage de la Brune. Outdoors, there are five tennis courts and a practice wall; court rentals are available year-round and are open to everyone.

The current landing stage in the port of Veyrier was financed by the state in 1862 to facilitate the transshipment that had previously been carried out with small boats from the steamships.

Hiking and Trails

The municipality of Veyrier-du-Lac provides the “au-bord-du-leau” footpath as a downloadable route. The Boucle pédestre du Mont Veyrier is a difficult 13.6 km hiking loop with a stated duration of 6 hours and 30 minutes, starting in Annecy.

The Boucle pédestre du Mont Veyrier offers a viewpoint overlooking the lake and the Bauges, as well as the Aravis and Mont Blanc; there are also two orientation tables. The loop returns via the heights of Veyrier-du-Lac to the marina of Annecy-le-Vieux.

Culture and History

The Château de Fésigny in Veyrier-du-Lac is partially protected as a historic monument. The protection covers the façades and roofs, two painted ceilings on the first floor, as well as two turrets in the park, and was registered on 22 June 1993.

The present-day Église Saint-Maurice was built between 1852 and 1855 and preserves the Romanesque base of the bell tower of its predecessor church. The historical heritage also includes the Vierge à l’Enfant, a carved wooden statue from the 15th century that was classified as a historic monument in 1963.

The historical and cultural tour by Veyrier-Patrimoine is marked with information panels and supplemented by a small leaflet for discovering the village. The Fontaine de Morat reuses a monolithic limestone sarcophagus considered an ancient find from the Morat necropolis; this necropolis is dated to the 7th to 8th century.
