Les Clefs: Holiday Apartments and Houses

At the Col de Plan Bois, located at an altitude of 1,299 m within the municipality of Les Clefs at the foot of Sulens, numerous hikes begin in summer. One route to the Chalets du Sulens starts there and returns along the same path. The trails on Sulens pass through forests and alpine meadows; they lead to the summit and its orientation table.

Trails and Sulens

The hike from the Col de Plan Bois to the summit of Sulens and back is 8.7 km long, includes 540 metres of elevation gain and takes around 3 hours and 15 minutes. The Chalet de Sulens is located in the Espace Naturel Sensible du Sulens and can be visited.

Cycling

Two different climbs at the Col de Plan Bois are listed for cycling: the “Aller cyclo: Col de Plan Bois” cycling route is 6 km long and has 600 metres of elevation gain. The climb to the Col de Plan Bois via Le Veuillet from Les Clefs is 9 km long and has 672 metres of elevation gain. Mountain bikers and e-bike riders can cycle around Sulens.

Local Specialties

At the Ferme Lait’able des Frangins, you can sample the ice cream flavours on site while enjoying a view of La Tournette. Seasonal ice cream flavours with local ingredients are made there using milk from their own cows, herbs from their own garden, and fruit sourced directly from producers or gathered in the wild.

The Auberge de Plan Bois serves potato fritters and other Savoyard specialties. Pavé de Sulens is available at the Auberge de Plan Bois at the Col.

Nature and Winter

The Champfroid stream offers a stretch for fly-fishing for trout. In Belchamp, you can hear the stag’s rutting call in autumn. Snowshoe hikes and ski tours take place on Sulens from the first snowfall.

Culture

The Pont dit Romain dates from the 15th century and crosses the Fier. It is one of France’s historic monuments. The church in Les Clefs is in the Baroque style and was inaugurated in 1833.
