Culture

In Praz-Coutant, one site bears the French heritage label “Patrimoine du XXe siècle”.

On the Plateau d'Assy, the Route de la Sculpture Contemporaine can be explored as part of the modern heritage; it comprises 19 sculptures integrated into their surroundings.

The Église Notre-Dame-de-Toute-Grâce, dating from 1950, is considered a key building in the renewal of sacred art in the 20th century. It contains modern artworks by artists such as Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger, Henri Matisse and Germaine Richier.

Martel de Janville is listed as a Monument historique.

Nature and trails

The hike from the Plateau d'Assy to Lac Vert via the Passerelle du Nant Bordon begins at Place Tobé. The footbridge crosses the Nant Bordon 20 metres above the stream on the former road from the Plateau d'Assy to Lac Vert and may only be crossed on foot or by bicycle. For the return journey, it is possible to take the bus from Plaine Joux to the Plateau d'Assy.

The Via ferrata de Curalla is 400 metres long, rated AD+ and takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes. From the Plateau d'Assy, it can be reached via the Chemin de Curalla with an approximately 20-minute walk to the start.

Gardens and events

The Jardin des Cimes in the village of Plateau d'Assy showcases various gardens from around the world, kitchen gardens, alpine landscapes and artistic installations against the backdrop of the Mont Blanc massif. The garden is open to everyone and offers an approximately one-hour individual tour through around twenty garden and themed areas.

Les Musicales d'Assy is a recurring music festival featuring classical music and jazz in the heights of the Plateau d'Assy.

The Plateau d'Assy can be reached from Sallanches and from Saint-Gervais-les-Bains or Le Fayet by bus route Y 85.
