Mieussy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mieussy is a stage along the Route des Grandes Alpes. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Mieussy should consider the town as a travel destination.

Culture and History

The Chapelle Saint Denis is the oldest chapel in Mieussy; its construction dates back to the 15th century. It is dedicated to Saint Dionysius and Saint Christopher.

The Chapelle Saint Grat dates from 1697, is dedicated to the Holy Family and Saint Grat, and is considered a place of protection for crops.

The Circuit des Chapelles is a circular trail for discovering Mieussy's religious heritage. It starts at the Chapelle Notre Dame opposite the Fruitière des Hauts-Fleury and ends at the Chapelle Saint Denis.

The trail to the Chapelle Saint Grat is an easy hike between the village and the forest to a peaceful viewpoint overlooked by the chapel.

The Grotte du Jourdy served as a hiding place for the vicars of Mieussy during the Reign of Terror from 1792 to 1796.

The preserved architecture and numerous chapels of Mieussy form part of the local heritage and are of interest to visitors.

Hiking and Trails

The Hameaux de Leÿ et Messy hike starts at the viaduct in Mieussy, passes through rural hamlets, and offers views of Mont Blanc, Pointe d'Orchez, and Le Môle at Messy.

The Boucle du coteau sud starts in Mieussy and passes through woodland, meadows, and villages; along the way, there are views of the Giffre Valley and Mont Blanc.

The walk from the viaduct to Dessy follows a paved road and is accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs.

The Tour du Mont Mailly is a circular forest trail starting from Dessy on the left bank of the Giffre. It offers views of Mieussy's southern slope and the Pertuiset launch site; the route passes Savoyard farmhouses and the remarkable Ivoray marsh. For the return journey, a variant via the Pont du Diable over the Giffre is possible.

Nature and Winter

Lac d'Anthon is a small, tranquil mountain lake rich in fish in Mieussy, where fishing is permitted with a fishing licence.

In winter, Sommand ski area can be accessed from Mieussy.

The Sommand peat bog is a worthwhile natural attraction; alpine fauna and flora are particularly abundant there.

The first documented parachute launch from Mieussy took place in June 1978 from the summit of Pertuiset, by Jean-Claude Bétemps, André Bohn, and Gérard Bosson.

Local Character

The Fruitière in Mieussy currently sells cheese and regional products in a temporary boutique on Rue des Écoles.
