Nature
La Pierre sourde is a large glacial erratic from a glacial moraine that was exposed by the erosion of the river in the bed of the Arve upstream of the Pont Neuf. From the right bank near Arthaz, La Pierre sourde produces a strong echo.

The present-day chapel of Arthaz-Pont-Notre-Dame stands on the site of the former church of Arthaz. The De Baudry family had the present-day chapel built on the site of the first church. The church of Arthaz-Pont-Notre-Dame has a floor plan in the shape of a Greek cross.
The church building of Arthaz-Pont-Notre-Dame was completed or officially accepted on 31 December 1841. The church was consecrated and opened for worship in 1854.

History
The Basse-Arve power station was in operation from 1892 and supplied the tourist railway on the Salève. Prehistoric remains were found on the Plateau de Loëx in the area around Arthaz-Pont-Notre-Dame.
