Trails and Landscape
The Pont du Diable–Fargebelle route is designated as a moderately difficult circular trail covering 4.83 km, with a walking time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. It leads through chestnut groves to the hamlet of Fargebelle, a typical enclosed Cévennes hamlet dating from the 14th century.
The via ferrata at the Pont du Diable in Thueyts includes a suspension bridge, a Nepalese bridge and a zip line. It can be used independently with rented equipment or with a companion; accompaniment is recommended for beginners.
From the Belvédère de la Gueule d’Enfer, you can observe the Pont du Diable and the basalt flow of the Chaussée des Géants. The permanent Chaussée des Géants route offers three trails of 10, 20 and 51 km.
Culture
The Tour Pouget is a Renaissance building from the 15th century that is not open to visitors. It has a spiral staircase, a stair tower with a rib-vaulted ceiling and a platform above it, a moulded portal with a flamboyant coat of arms, and profiled tracery windows.
The Eglise Saint Jean-Baptiste was rebuilt in 1834 after the vault collapsed; it is open daily all year round and admission is free.
The old town of Thueyts is characterised by medieval lanes with Renaissance houses and historic estates. The Musée Ardèche d'autrefois traces the region’s former way of life through more than 1,000 objects and offers a self-guided tour lasting from 45 minutes to one hour.
The Château de Blou was built around the 12th century and converted into a pleasure palace in the 18th century.
Nature
The Chapelle Saint Roch de Thueyts was built as a holy site on the summit of a volcanic cone. It is open daily all year round, approximately from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free.
Local Life
The Marché de Thueyts offers local specialities and fresh produce on Friday mornings all year round. In summer, a Tuesday market in the late afternoon adds to the selection offered by local craftspeople and producers.
