Champis: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Champis is considered a place of peace and nature and is located around 20 minutes from the Rhône Valley. At the same time, the village combines paths leading to megaliths with preserved historical traces and fascinating insights into beekeeping.
Nature and Trails
The Sentier des mégalithes begins and ends at the Place de la mairie in La Bâtie de Crussol, Champis. The route leads via the D533 towards Alboussière and then via the D269 towards Champis-La Bâtie de Crussol. Along the way, a brown sign points to La Pierre Branlante; from there, follow the path 100 metres to the right to see the megalith.
When staying in Champis, the desire to rent a holiday apartment may be part of your own travel planning.
Culture and History
Only ruins remain today at the site of the former Saint-Pierre church in Champis. La Bâtie de Crussol is a former fortified town whose former defensive walls are still recognisable. The fortified Roubiac farm was built in the 15th century and is still preserved.
The Grange du Seigneur was built in 1453 as a storehouse for grain and other dues owed to the lord of Crussol. Today, it houses a craft brewery. Garnier has an open-air theatre; the church in Garnier was built in 1872.
The former temple in the hamlet of La Bâtie de Crussol was built in 1819 and, on 6 June, was converted from religious to cultural use on the occasion of its inauguration.
