Genestelle: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature

Genestelle is part of the continental type 2 ZNIEFF “BASSINS VERSANTS DE LA VOLANE, DE LA DORNE ET DE LA BEZORGUES”. The landscape comprises rocky valleys, mountain heaths, faïsses, and chestnut groves. The Volcan de Craux offers an extensive panorama over the Hautes Cévennes Ardéchoises and the area of the young volcanoes.

Hiking

“Le val de Bise” is an easy circular hike through a secluded valley in the high Ardèche Cévennes, leading from the river to the mountain ridge. The route passes through a chestnut grove and reaches heaths and meadows with a panorama over the Bise Valley and the Rocher des Aigles.

The “Faïsses et châtaigniers” route begins in the village of Genestelle and explores both sides of the Sandron Valley. It passes through chestnut groves and along dry-stone walls known as “faïsses”.

Culture

The Église Sainte-Marie in Genestelle is a Romanesque church dating from the 10th century and is classified as a historic monument. Individual free visits to the Église Sainte-Marie are available on request.

The Château de Craux overlooks the valleys of the Volane and the Sandron. It stands on the crater of a volcano of the same name.

Local

At “Le P'tit Marché de Bise”, local food producers organize a market. Products purchased there can be grilled on site.
