Nature

The La Boissine departmental nature area covers 226 hectares and is of ecological interest. In 2012, a 182-hectare pre-emption zone was established in agreement with La Voulte-sur-Rhône and Rompon. La Boissine offers family activities for discovering the area's fauna and flora. These include butterflies and lizards.

Hiking and Climbing

The “Le plateau de Rompon” route is a moderately difficult 7.8 km circular hike lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes. It offers views of the village of Vieux Rompon, the Rhône Valley, the Drôme Valley, the Vercors Massif and the Alpine range.

The route begins in the hamlet of Laval; the car park is located next to Saint-Martin Church. From Rompon, access to the Le Chat Gourmand climbing area is via the N104 between Le Pouzin and Privas, heading towards Vieux Rompon as far as the chapel; parking is available there. The distance to the chapel is 7 km.

Le Chat Gourmand has 145 climbing routes ranging from difficulty grade 4a to 7b+ on a limestone cliff at an altitude of 400 metres.

Culture

The Chapelle du Vieux Rompon is a small Cistercian chapel on the rocky hill of Vieux Rompon. Concerts organised by the Association de l’Offrande Musicale take place in the Chapelle du Vieux Rompon. The first concert at the Chapelle du Vieux Rompon took place on 26 September 1965.
