The Sentier des Lauzes is a circular hiking trail through the municipalities of Dompnac and Saint-Mélany. The Sentier des Lauzes connects to the long-distance hiking trails GR4 and GR7. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Dompnac can include this in their travel plans.
Hiking
The Chapelle Saint-Régis, a Romanesque chapel, is located along the Sentier des Lauzes. From the Chapelle Saint-Régis, hikers can branch off from the Sentier des Lauzes onto the GR du tour du Tanargue.
Culture
“Le Silence des Lauzes” combines two locations into a single sculpture: one in the municipality of Saint-Mélany and the second intervention site on the ridges of the municipality of Dompnac.
The visit to “Le Ron des Fades” begins along a path through a chestnut forest with several trees that are centuries old and leads to a Cévenol miniature village called Drobie Lauze.
Garden
Le Clos du Pioule is a 1,000 m² garden with more than 700 plant species. The garden combines horticulture with mosaics and handicrafts made from chestnut wood. An individual visit to the Le Clos du Pioule garden takes an average of 45 minutes.
Nature
The planned installation “Le belvédère des lichens” is intended to offer views of Dompnac and the landscape around the Drobie, characterised by contiguous forests dominated by chestnut trees. It consists of three wooden platforms intended to follow the contours of the rock. It is planned as a viewing stop on an elevated section of the Sentier des Lauzes near the Chapelle Saint-Régis between Saint-Mélany and Dompnac.
